Fostering Creativity and Fun: Kids Activities at the Clinton Arts Festival

The Clinton Arts Festival is just around the corner, and one of the most exciting aspects of this event is the range of activities and opportunities available for kids. I had the pleasure of speaking with Eileen O’Donnell, one of the organizers, to learn more about what children can expect at this year’s festival.

Eileen is passionate about bringing the arts to Clinton and creating a lively community where children can explore their creativity. One of the highlights for kids at the festival is the Japanese Children’s Day Festival, where they will have the chance to make their own “Koinobori” or carp streamers. These colorful paper streamers symbolize strength and determination, and children can create their own versions using paper and other materials. It’s a wonderful way for kids to learn about Japanese culture and express their artistic abilities.

Kids Activities

But that’s not all! Eileen has also planned a recycled art activity involving soda cans. Eileen has flattened and cut the cans into feathers, which will then be attached to a board. Eileen’s unique artwork will serve as a backdrop where children and adults can have their pictures taken. It’s an interactive and eco-friendly project that encourages kids to think creatively and consider the possibilities of repurposing materials.

In addition to these activities, there will be face painting and demonstrations of paper making. Last year, a talented printer brought a small printing press to the festival, allowing children to create their own personalized cards. With activities like this, there’s no doubt that Eileen and her team have a lot of exciting surprises in store for the young attendees.

The Clinton Arts Festival aims to provide a platform for children to engage with the arts, discover new forms of creativity, and have fun. By offering a variety of activities and fostering a vibrant atmosphere, Eileen O’Donnell and the festival organizers are ensuring that kids have an unforgettable experience. So, mark your calendars and bring your little ones to the festival – it’s an event you won’t want to miss!
